International Rivers Inga 3 update

At the start of 2025, civil society and community leaders from the Democratic Republic of Congo travelled to Washington D.C., urging the World Bank to halt its renewed support for the controversial Inga 3 hydropower project. Despite longstanding concerns around displacement, ecological damage, and the ongoing lack of energy access for Congolese communities, the Bank approved an initial $250 million for the project.
